About CPO

In the early 1980’s, you could find members of Christian Chapel church peacefully walking and praying outside of a Tulsa abortion clinic. They had a heart for these babies, and for the women facing a crisis pregnancy. As time went on, though, they felt a call to do more—to provide a meaningful alternative to abortion. As a result, Marilyn Guthmann, Dr. Howard Guthmann, and Cheryl Bauman drafted a proposal for the Christian Chapel board and pastor Richard Exley. The plan was unanimously approved and in March of 1983, Crisis Pregnancy Outreach was born. Within two weeks, we ministered to our first woman in crisis.

Today, thousands of women and their babies have received our help. The ministry, still 100% volunteer, has grown to include a transitional home, counseling services, medical partners, mentoring, parenting support, a fully licensed adoption agency and so much more.
